Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the rose 0.62% to hit a new all time high, while the index gained 0.83%.

The best performers of the session on the were Schneider Electric SE (EPA:), which rose 2.13% or 4.45 points to trade at 213.70 at the close. Meanwhile, BNP Paribas SA (EPA:) added 2.08% or 1.24 points to end at 60.95 and TotalEnergies SE (EPA:) was up 1.76% or 1.07 points to 61.74 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (EPA:), which fell 2.14% or 0.26 points to trade at 11.90 at the close. Vivendi SA (EPA:) declined 1.92% or 0.19 points to end at 9.79 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:) was down 1.84% or 0.82 points to 43.49.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (EPA:) which rose 7.41% to 15.94, Accor SA (EPA:) which was up 2.55% to settle at 42.25 and Technip Energies BV (EPA:) which gained 2.54% to close at 22.65.

The worst performers were Elior Group (EPA:) which was down 4.52% to 2.28 in late trade, Argan (EPA:) which lost 3.84% to settle at 75.10 and Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:) which was down 3.63% to 3.56 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 282 to 240 and 87 ended unchanged.

Shares in Schneider Electric SE (EPA:) rose to all time highs; up 2.13% or 4.45 to 213.70. Shares in Vallourec (EPA:) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 7.41% or 1.10 to 15.94. Shares in Accor SA (EPA:) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.55% or 1.05 to 42.25.

The , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.68% or 14.65 to $2,180.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.69% or 2.09 to hit $79.65 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.40% or 1.97 to trade at $83.89 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 102.35.
